Let the votes for parties A, B, C & D be Va, Vb, Vc & Vd respectively
Va + Vb + Vc + Vd =100%
Va + Vb = 40%
Vc + Vd = 100% - 40% = 60%
Va + Vb = 40%
Vb + Vc = 30%
Va - Vc = 10%
Party A got more votes than party C.
Vc + Vd = 60%
Vb + Vc = 30%
Vd - Vb = 30%
Party D got more votes than party B.
