What is the cost of one gallon of paint?

(1) Yesterday, 3 rooms were painted, and the total cost of paint was $120.

(2) Yesterday, the 3 rooms were painted with 10 complete containers of paint.

1st - Yesterday, 3 rooms were painted, and the total cost of paint was $120. - Doesnt says anything about gallons.
2nd - Yesterday, the 3 rooms were painted with 10 complete containers of paint. - doesnt talk anything about cost of container of paint.

Now combining both we can calculate cost per gallon, as for 3 rooms required 10 containers of paints (as per2nd) whose cost equal to 120 (as per 1st)
Therefore, Assuming cost x per gallon/container, 10x = 120
x=12. Hence C.

@Purnank be careful, you are assuming that each container consists of a gallon of paint while no such info is provided.

(1) Yesterday, 3 rooms were painted, and the total cost of paint was $120.

The only relevant info here is the price for the paint used, without further info one cannot solve for the price of a gallon of paint.

INSUFFICIENT

(2) Yesterday, the 3 rooms were painted with 10 complete containers of paint.

Once again, with the info provided in this statement one cannot solve for the price of a gallon of paint.

INSUFFICIENT

(1+2)

Putting the info together one can workout that a single container costs \(\frac{120}{10}= 12\). However, there is no info pertaining to the amount of paint per container. If each container contains 0.5 gallons of paint then the price per gallon is $24, and if each container contains 1 gallon of paint then the price per gallon is $12.

INSUFFICIENT
