hey i had this query that
as said in the first statement that tony bought N cakes with 100 tk
so, 100/N=X
in the second statement it says 150/N+5=X+1
so if we combine both and the put the value of X in the and 2nd statements equation
we can get N and the putting N in any eqn we can get x
correct me where I am wrong pls.

What is the value of x?
(1) Tony spent $100 to buy N cakes, where the price of each cake is x dollars.
(2) Tony spent $150 to buy N + 5 cakes, where the price of each cake is x + 1 dollars.
Statement 1 & 2 are clearly insufficient since N and X are unknown.
If we solve 1 and 2 together, we will get 2 different values for x- 4 and 5.
Therefore, ( E ).
When you solve 100/N = x and 150/(N + 5) = x + 1, you get two sets of values for N and x that satisfy these equations: N = 20 and x = 5, and N = 25 and x = 4.
In a Data Sufficiency question, when the question asks for the value of a variable, the statement is sufficient only if you can determine a single numerical value for that variable. Here, we obtain two possible values for x (5 and 4). Therefore, even when combined, the statements are not sufficient to determine a single numerical value for x.
Answer: E.
1. YES/NO DS Questions:
In Yes/No Data Sufficiency questions, a statement is sufficient if the answer is always "yes" or always "no", whereas a statement is insufficient if the answer can be "sometimes yes" and "sometimes no".
2. VALUE DS QUESTIONS:
When a DS question asks about the value of some variable, then the statement is sufficient ONLY if you can obtain a single numerical value for this variable.
Hope this helps.
