Given information P----->R<------Q

Option 1:
P took off .5 hours earlier than Q
But we can't say anything about distance it covered. (N.s)

average speed = total dist./total time

So, its dependent on time and distance.

Option 2:
Distance from P to R > Q to R

Now no info about time hence (N.S)

Option 3:
P to R has more time and distance than Q to R

but still we can't say that average speed is also more as it is the ratio of distance by speed. Hence (N.S)

Option E

Bunuel
An airplane took off from airport P and later landed at airport R at the same time that another airplane landed at airport R, completing its flight from airport Q. If both flights were nonstop flights, which airplane flew at the faster average speed?

(1) The first plane took off a half hour before the second plane.

(2) The distance from P to R is greater than the distance from Q to R.

Each individually is INSUFF.

We can use some values to see how this works.

We know speed = Distance/Time

Is \(\frac{d_1}{t_1} > \frac{d_2}{t_2} \)

Where \(d_1\) is distance from P to R and \(t_1\) is time from P to R
Where \(d_2\) is distance from Q to R and \( t_2\) is time from Q to R

\(\frac{5}{1.5} > \frac{4}{1} \) NO

\(\frac{7}{1.5} > \frac{4}{1} \) YES

INSUFF.

Hope it helped.
