Hi all. I'm originally from China and moved to the US when I was 12. I graduated from a target ivy in 2013 (math/econ, 3.5/4.0) and worked a year for a public pension fund as an investment analyst. I recently landed numerous offers in small and large hedge funds in NY for front and middle office positions. Unfortunately my green card application was rejected so I couldn't go to these jobs and must leave the US soon.
I'm under the impression that it might be more difficult to even get a visa coming back to the US after a permanent resident application has been rejected -- at least for the next few years. I've been preparing for other alternative right now and I'm exploring the idea of getting an education in Europe. I took many French courses in college and spent a term in a language exchange program in France and loved it there.
I speak native level English and intermediate level French. If I get into HEC and attend I'll definitely work on my language skills more. I'd be interested in working in the UK or France in the future. UK wouldn't be too much of a change but I'm curious what the business landscape especially in finance is like in France regarding language used and perception of people with my type of background.
I've done some research and it seems like LSE, HEC and Oxford has decent programs for finance masters with my level of experience. I'm curious to see what my chances are for their programs? I only started studying for GMAT and I scored about 720 on my first practice exam. So I think I have a decent chance shooting for a 740+ score.
Any help is appreciated!
