Hi everyone,
I am a third year student at a Singapore university currently pursuing an undergraduate degree (4 year program) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. I am considering the possibility of applying to a Masters of Science Program in either Finance, Business Analytics or something similar right after I graduate. My ultimate aim after 3-5+ years of work experience is to also gain an MBA.
I wanted to know if it is better for someone to do MS Finance after undergrad and an MBA later on. Or just pursue an MBA after gaining work experience. I am targeting the top 20 schools for MS Finance. I plan to give my GMAT this December.
Before I make the decision to start preparing myself for MS, I want to make sure that I am making the right decision.
Thanks & Regards,
Manickam
If you are going to do an MSF, do it before, not after the MBA. Most MSF students tend to have a lot less experience than MBA's and also be a lot younger. I've seen too many (mainly international) students with MBA's try and do an MSF and have a hard time getting in or explaining this to admissions. It just looks odd.
My question is does MSF + MBA better or just a MBA after some years of work experience better? How hard is it to move to a job in the finance sector after a Bachelors in Engineering?
