Hello all,
I am looking to apply to the LSE MSc Finance this cycle. I am also considering the MSc Financial Economics at Oxford (too much of a reach?), and possibly similar MSc programs at LBS and Imperial.
Regarding the entry requirements at LSE, I know they are looking for a background or coursework consisting of at least linear algebra, multi-variable calculus, and some advanced statistics. Is this a hard requirement that I will need to show in my transcripts, or can some other somewhat quantitative coursework be sufficient in lieu of these specific classes?
Also, I know my GPA is quite low and I'm wondering how much of an impact this has on my application. Is there anything else I could really focus on or add to perhaps overcome my GPA?
Lastly, my current plan for LSE is to apply to the MSc Finance with the MSc Finance & Economics as my second choice. If that doesn't pan out I'm planning to apply to the MSc Risk and Finance (or MSc Finance and Private equity) with MSc Statistics (Financial Stats) as a second choice. Again, if that doesn't work I'll try for the MSc Economics and MSc Accounting and Finance. At this point, if I were to submit my application within the next two weeks would I realistically have enough time for a second or even third application? And would my background (little pure math or stats courses) be sufficient to apply to the MSc Financial Stats?
I appreciate any input or help you have to offer.
