MS Finance/Economics - Profile Evaluation

Question

Hi guys,

I am brazilian and 22.

Undergrad by one of the best business schools of Brazil.

GPA slighly low 3.1 (I`ve been working as an intern 6 hours a day since half of the course)

TOEFL: 107

GMAT: 710

Work Experience: 
6 months internship in a multinational company (Financial Analyzes and Planning)
1 year internship in the largest Private Bank of the country (+150bi AUM). Awards: Won Private Banking Intern competition.

Good international experience:
Lived 8 Years in Italy (Milan)
6 Months in New Zealand (High School)

Do you think my profile is suitable to LBS mfa, HEC, IE, ESADE, IMPERIAL, BOCCONI, ESSEC, LSE and other top european MSF programmes even if my GPA is low?

I think the GPA will hurt you (which is sad since you have great work experience and international experience).

I’d say you are competitive at IE, some of the LSE programs, ESADE.

There are a number of other schools you’d be able to get into. I’d tier the applications so you don’t get into a situation where a lower ranked school is demanding a deposit and you’re waiting for LSE.

In brazil doesn´t exist GPA, so 3.1 is a mere estimation.
my average is 7.75/10 (better results in quantitative and finance subjects) 
The brazilian mark system is really different than the American or European ones, because of this do you think my GPA will weight less in the apllication than the other factors? and which well ranked Universities should i apply? (even US ones)

What % of your class ranking were you? That’s how international students have classified it.

3.1 is low for many EU schools. If you rank towards the top of your class, it would be higher than a 3.1 and my comments would shift.

I don’t think a 60% would be a 3.0 in the US. I’d honestly reach out to one of the EU schools you are looking at and ask them. Seems like a low GPA.

Hey there!

You have an interesting profile. Here are some pointers about it:
Your GPA is a bit on the lower side, especially for UK schools which have an emphasis on academics. On the other hand, your GMAT score is pretty impressive.
Your work experience in the field of finance is also pretty decent which would definitely be a highlight in your profile.
Schools value international experience
With your GPA, LBS, LSE, imperial are out but the others can be targeted
However, with a strong application, Bocconi,IE and ESSEC are possible to get into.
If you are looking for a safe school, EDHEC can be a good option.
