I am a 21 yrs old Indian Student.

Qualifications :

(1)B.COMM(Hons.) from University of Delhi (India's top University of Commerce Undergrad studies)
-- CGPA 9.081/10
-- College Gold Medalist
(2)CFA Level 1 PASSED (appearing for level 2)
(3)Chartered Accountancy(equivalent to AICPA )- CA-IPCC done till 2nd level out of 3 levels -- intent behind this was to enhance my understanding and knowledge in areas like Accounting,Taxation and Business and Corporate laws,Auditing....that kind of stuff.

2 internships 1 month each - one at EY - transaction advisory and the second one at india's second largest Private bank in their corporate relations department.

Decent extracurriculars - College societies(Clubs),Volunteer,Guitar,Gaming,NGO
Many awards and scholarships for securing highest marks and CGPAs in semester exams and particular subjects

i intend on applying for Mfin,MS in financial economics

target schools (in no particular order)
1) MIT MFin
2) Princeton MFin
3) LSE MSc finance
4) Columbia MS financial economics
5) Oxford Msc Financial economics

by the time i would apply i will have about 9-10 months of finance related work experience
target GMAT is 760+

What are my chances and what else can i do to improve my profile

You have picked one of the best schools for MS in Finance, congrats on that :thumbup:

Your GPA is great and CFA 1-2 level(s) passed is helpful for admission.

Extra curricular activities and work experience is fine.

Your GMAT target score means nothing, it is a wish for now, however if you score in that range you will be in excellent position to be admitted on all schools in your list. :idea:


I don't know your intended specialization but in case you are strong in math and would like to become a Quant, I would suggest programs like (besides MIT/Princeton above) :

Baruch College, City University of New York
Financial Engineering

University of California, Berkeley
Financial Engineering

Carnegie Mellon University
Computational Finance

Columbia University
Financial Engineering

New York University
Mathematics in Finance

Columbia University
Mathematics of Finance

I applied to, and was admitted to, three of the programs on your list. Not Indian, but have similar academic performance and extracurriculars and experience and all that (minus CFA). I had a 770 GMAT (49Q, 48V). All the best!
