Andy,

I also applied to UNC and UIUC. I am awaiting a response from UNC and will submit my app to UI later this week.

What has been your experience with UNC? What lead you to chose UNC over UI?

Thanks!

Hi. Sorry I missed your post until now. I chose UNC due to the better-known business school name recognition and their flexible options to tailor/pace class schedules. I have a love/hate relationship after being in it for about a year. It's a strong, flexible program, but not as good as I expected. Be aware you'll never/seldom interact with the tenured professors who "teach" the classes. They recorded lessons some time/years ago which you're required to watch before mandatory live sessions with assistants. The assistants are good, but I don't think this is aligned with the high tuition charged. There are other unexpected pros and cons. Maybe easier to discuss via PM if interested. Good luck!

I have tried both programs. Unc is by far better. You get what you pay for. Better teachers. Better classmates. You work harder. You understand the material better. If economics is your issue go to Illinois. But there is no comparison. Unc has there act together.
