I was india-based lawyer, currently in US. I have 5 year work-ex in India (3 years in litigation working with independent lawyer but only 2 year in corporate). I want to apply for MSMS/MIM program in US. I know MIM program prefer less experienced candidates but my corporate experience is only 2 years, so want to know your take if my profile is suitable for this program or do you think the chances of my profile to get rejected is higher.

I think you will have trouble finding Masters in Management programs that will accept you with this experience and your time out from college. I would look at a MBA or possible a MSF.

Also, need more information. Scores, desired schools, UG experience. Having a JD doesn't specifically exclude you, but your profile distinctly looks like an MBA. Most schools who have the MiM degree do not want to cannibalize their application pool. If you look at various school FAQ's, they specifically limit number of years work experience. I don't think you ignoring your 3 years of independent law will work either as the university will look at when you graduated and have questions about this 3 year gap.
