Hello, everyone! I wanted to ask everyone what are generally perceived as some of the best MiM programmes in terms of family business and entrepreneurship electives/student backgrounds etc.? By that I mean, which of the top schools (or generally perceived as top schools) have solid bases on these areas. For example, how would HEC compare vs INSEAD, LBS, IESE, ESADE, IE, Imperial etc. Also, how are newer MiMs such as IESE's and INSEAD's perceived compared to those of HEC's and LBS'? I know these are very broad questions, so any kind of answer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
You picked the real hard path, but you are even lucky because you shouldn't give a f*** about the prestige of the school, just optimize the ratio cost-benefits-prestige. For your goals in perspective the only thing which matters is opportunity to create valuable connections. What are valuable connections for an entrepreneur? With future Investment bankers/consultants or with a very iridescent range of people, from CS grad to engineers? Easy, the latter. Moreover, there's litterally no bs which will make a huge difference in your entrepreneurship chances and who says the contrary simply doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Btw,among the institutions you mentioned, Imperial for example is a great choice because you would be in a place where you can find great graduates from any discipline. The funny thing is that places like Harvard or Stanford produced some of the best entrep not because they offer great MBAs but because of their real University nature at the highest level, therefore kind of talents you will find at Harvard, not HBS such as at UPenn not just Wharton.
Adopting this perspective, surprisingly a school that's just a business school could probably be the worst place for a real entrepreneur.
Finally, I wouldn't give too much importance about the content for this specific case.
Having said this it's really hard to pinpoint the "right" choice, I would simply advise you to focus on the right things for entrepreneurship and not to confuse it with other things, and honestly school is not one of the most important. It's trivial but pivotal.
Ps: Great name Arjen!!
