I am currently in the early stages of researching for a potential MSc in Marketing. I have work experience already in advertising and brand & digital marketing, and I want to further my career in this specific field vs taking a general MiM/MBA. Goal is to eventually find a job and stay in Europe after taking my Master's.
- I'm from the Philippines, 27 years old, female
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Business from one of the top unis in the Philippines (though probably unknown internationally)
- 5+ years of work experience in Advertising and Marketing Communications; had experience managing a team
- No GMAT/GRE score yet (as mentioned I'm only in the early stages, but programs I'm looking at so far have their own entrance exams as alternative options so I'll most likely take this route)
- Native English speaker with very basic Spanish (willing to take more intensive classes so I can become fluent)
I am interested in these 2 programs so far based on curriculum:
1) IE - MSc in Corp Marketing and Communications
2) ESCP - MSc in Marketing and Digital Media
ESCP appeals to me more because of their multi-campus program. Since London is one of the campuses for a term, as a native English speaker, I think it would be more beneficial to build my network here and try applying for an internship or a job after. Although downside I imagine would be the added fees for additional student visas. But overall I think fees are a bit lower for ESCP vs IE.
Downside of the 2 programs are that they both mostly taken in Madrid (ESCP has 1 term in London or Berlin but majority in Madrid) and I'm aware the job market is not good at all in Spain especially for non-Spanish speakers. I've looked into the programs in LSE and Imperial and unfortunately they are above my budget plus living expenses would be higher.
I'd like to know if there are any current students or alumni for these 2 programs and would like to get your thoughts, and if you would recommend any of these 2. Some questions in mind:
- For ESCP, would like to know how the multi-campus program works. Since the course is to be taken in Madrid and London/Berlin, would the degree be recognized in both countries or will it be under whichever country majority of the course is taken in?
- Has anyone taken the ESCP Numerical and Verbal test (SHL) or IEGAT, and are intensive preparations needed?
- Would it be a long shot to take my Master's in Madrid then get a job elsewhere such as the UK where English is more widely spoken?
Thank you in advance!
