Hi guys, I'm highly stressed by my upcoming applications and need to have some insights about my profile.
Age: 22 Male
Nationality: French, Paris
GMAT score: 740 (97%), Q48 (65%), V44(98%)
Work Experience: A year of Finance internships, with an experience in a leading banks' headquarters. (Overall pretty strong)
Programs: MIT Mfin, Saïd MFE, HEC Msc IF, LBS MFA
Overall GPA: 14.5/20 (French)
X-Factor: Had taken multiple calculus, algebra and programming courses. Won several sport competitions. Work exp/study abroad exp in England, United States, France.
As you can see, I applying to four ELITE programs only. I think I have a "passing" profile but not outstanding one (no awards, normal recommendations, and I'm not coming from an Ivy school. My actual program is recognised internationally but, basically is ranked 6th in France, 50th worldwide. I think I'm tunnelled in a biased opinion of ELITE programs, and external professional insight would really help me to get other views. YouTube stuff is so generic.
[1] Those 4 programs are so ELITE, like I'm really starting to doubt about my application strength. MIT had 1900 applicants in 2022 for 141 students enrolled. I stalked all 141 students, (almost), they're all from Bocconi it's ridiculous.
[2] HEC is my
"backup program, as I'm French and I have great French recommendations
", but is HEC less competitive than MIT ? I know I might be wrong about it, French schools are overall less competitive than world leading universities ?
[3] I'm coming from a pool of weak GMATs, but, of course there will be other French applicants with strong GMAT scores. I have a 65% in quant only, just wtf. Do the idians/chinese pools make my score decrease as much ? Or Do I have a weak quant score for Finance applications ? I'm saying this without any pretention, I'm a Finance majored student so my overall level in Maths always been my strength, I'm really surprised of the quant percentile.
[4] Finally, should I apply to a second program at MIT ? I applied for the MFIN, but I really want to get to MIT. There is this Master of Business Analytics that might interest me. Would it interfere with my MFIN application ? I know the admission committee has a complete view of the profiles, and are able to see if a student applied for a second program.
Thank you for your time, I hope some of the answers will help the community. Good luck all for your applications !
