I applied to four Finance Masters, and already been rejected by LBS MFA, HEC MIF, MIT Mfin. I need advice from admissions experts.
My ultimate goal applying to these programs is to benefit from a world-renown university to get a top starting-career position. I don't really care about the program, but more on school's renown and location. For your information, I can easily handle any course content, this is not an issue. So, I applied to four of the top business schools for their pre-experience Msc Finance, and got rejected without interview. I did not expect those programs to be as much competitive, and got rejected for three of them. My last admission result is coming shortly, and I can't rely on it as HEC and LBS rejected me with the same Resume and motivations. I'm in a situation where I have two choices:
1/ Applying in last rounds to good universities, but the programs are less competitive which is frustrating because I worked so hard for my stats. As an example, St Gallen Master of Banking and Finance, ESCP, Essec. I know these are good schools, but I already have a Master in Management from a Top20 Masters Ranking.
2 / Maybe you noticed, but I applied only to four programs. Which was of course a mistake. I'm convinced I can get a top university with my stats and profile, and did not even apply for half of them ! So I give up my admissions this year to apply next year for Cambridge Mphil in Finance, Princeton Master of Finance, Harvard Master of PA, Yale Master of Asset Management, in addition of all previous schools. However, I will struggle to get recommendations. LORs are clearly my weakness, all of these programs are requiring 2-3 letters, and I already spammed my professors this year.
My stats:
- Really strong internships in Banking and Finance
- Really good extra-curricular activities (I founded an investment club, raised good money for charity)
- CFA Level I
- IELTS 7.5
- GMAT 740 (48Q, 44V)
Applicant pool: France
Possibly my weaknesses:
- LORs: my main issue is to get them.
- I already have a Master in management ? (But I have 22years old, I'm graduating this year).
To summarize, I need to take a decision quickly, to continue applying for schools this year or to re-attempt next year. I may not have all the knowledge about programs. Do you know top-universities one-year Masters programs for which I can still apply ? Something related to Finance, Economics, Maths, or related to this field. As an example, I just discovered the Harvard Master of PA and we are past the deadline. Do you know any tricks with recommendation letters, I will need 25+ of them if choosing to re-apply next year.
