I used to prepare for GMAT, but that was a year back. I got into some work, family problems and my preparation ,as a result, took a back seat. Now i am planning to take GMAT on 28th JAN ie i ave exactly 45 days. I know the basics of CR,RC, and SC. i also know the basics of quant. so do u think i will be able to perform well in GMAT if i prepare well or 45 days is too short a time for GMAT

. As for my background. I am from India with 3.4 years of exp of which 3 years have been in the IT sector. Academics is AVG, with very strong extracurricular activities ( i have a band with which i perform, besides working).
Please help

Well, besides the basics - your performance depends on your mental endurance and ability to take the test. Nearly everyone who takes the GMAT knows the basics -- that's not really going to set you apart. When others fall into a booby trap--that's when you need to avoid it to stand out.
45 days (or even less) is generally an ideal amount of time - as long as you have complete focus. Given your past of getting distracted with work, family problems, etc -- how would you assess your level of focus for the next 45 days? If you believe you will not be distracted and that by the 20 day mark you have covered half of the material that you planned to cover - then you may be in good shape.
By limiting the amount of time you study - you don't drag things out and lose focus. We believe in intense, focused studying over a 30-45 day period--rather than 3-6 months of 50% focus.
Hope that keeps things in perspective.
