Dear Everybody,

This is an SOS.

I took the GMAT on the 30th of January after what I thought was a decent preparations.
My results are:

AWA: 6 (91%)
IR: 6 (67%)
Quant: 20 (8% )
Verbal: 38 (84%)
Total: 500 (32%)

I don't understand how my quant got so low because all my test scores were around 640-680.

I am literally crying as I write this. This was my 2nd attempt. First attempt was in 2010 and I scored 460

I have no courage to rewrite this now, furthermore there is no available dates till April in the country where I reside in.

What do I do?

Now to make matters worse, I just realized there is an error in my profile. My country of citizenship is wrong. it reads my country of residence instead of my country of citizenship (which I don't understand how, my International passport was used as my source of identification for my two tests)

What do I do?

I appreciate your advice.

GMAT tests things you can 'learn' by hard work. So I don't see why you are this disappointed. You know that Quant is your weakness. Quant is absolutely objective which means there is only one correct answer and there is no degree of correctness or appropriateness. It's driven by rules and there is logic to every rule. Hence it is not very challenging to improve in Quant. I don't know how you prepared for the test last time but you know that it didn't work for you. You might want to change your method/ seek outside help/ use videos if you learn better through visual means etc.

As for the error in your profile, talk to Pearson. They will tell you how to set it right. You don't need to worry about it at all.

Hello Everybody,

Thank you for making me feel better. I've cried it all out and I am now rational (sorry, I am such a cry baby)

Funny thing is I was more confident in my quant; maybe the over-confidence killed me.

Anyway, I have planned to apply for some of the schools as it is with my score and see what my chances are, (The schools have gotten the scores already anyway) while I prepare to re-take the GMAT. (There are no available dates here till end of April...and I am planning to relocate by 1st week of May..that story is for another day. but anyway)

I called up a few of the schools and I may have a chance. I have 7 years of work experience, 4 of which are in management positions in the Health Sector; Also have a GPA 0f 3.76. and my essay are decent. I am applying for a Health Sector MBA/MBA in Health Management/MHA/MSc in International Health Management.

If I get in, Thank God. If I don't I'll retake the GMAT and try again for the next session.

Either way I know it will be for the best.

I will let you guys know how it goes. Its so awesome to hear words of encouragement for you all; i truly appreciate it :P

Hi Tanu,

from the wide discrepancy in your practice and actual tests you might have some significant performance related issues.

idea: take a full practice test that you video record. while taking test force yourself to verbally articulate your thinking process on each question. when my students do this they develop the ability to externalize the problem in a more effective manner and greatly decrease the personal nerves that some feel. also when you can't articulate clearly it says to me that you don't know it as clearly as you could. this could help you identify problem areas.

thanks,

Clearmountain
