I would like to get more clarity on what exactly going wrong with my approach when I go for verbal practice tests. In general, when I go for an attempt to answer questions ( SC or CR or RC ) separately, I am able to finish that within time limit. But all of my strategies to attempt any verbal question in a timed test do not seem to work. If I attempt 10 to 12 questions within a time limit of 20-22 mins, I am unable to complete the test within that time, and somehow I am in a situation not to apply any techniques of SC / CR / RC. I have no clue what happens when I go for timed test.
Mentors , any suggestions - please !!
Posted from my mobile device First of all, forget all about timing - instead focus on being proactive on Verbal questions. Take a bunch of 10-12 questions but don't time them. Focus on working through them using all your strategies but try not to linger too long. Also, let those questions be a mix of RC, SC and CR. With each different type of question, you will switch gears and you need to be able to do that quickly. Learn to look at the question stem the moment you see a CR question, the decision points in an SC question and the layout of the passage in RC. A plan for every question type gives you confidence. You will not be doubting your every move and every logic. Do this for a few days.
Thereafter, before you start with the set of 10-15 questions, note down the time. Do not look at the clock again till the set is complete. Note the time you took to finish the test. Try to improve on your time day by day. It is not advisable to look at the timer after every question. Keep working at a fair, constant pace and you should be able to manage time easily.
