Hello,
I’ve just started my preparations for GMAT and am nearing three weeks into it. Thus far, I’ve managed to get hands on Manhattan Q and V set, OG 12, 13 and OG Verbal. However, haven’t really started practicing yet and only going through theory for now.
Yesterday, I gave a mock GMAT Prep test and scored a 590. Experience: I was shocked to see how inefficient and disillusioned I felt while giving the paper.
The test happened as follows:
Q47: Quant 32 questions were attempted; 9 were incorrect
V25: Verbal 32 questions were attempted; 12 were incorrect
Overall: 590
Also, realized the following:
• My reading was incredibly slow. Would read and reread passages and CR questions.
• Comprehension seemed to be very challenging throughout be it RC or CR.
• Many of my answers in Verbal were seeming to come out of intuition rather than word to word analysis. A couple answers were even guess work.
• In Maths, I took more time to read a question than to solve. I was more confident in Maths though.
With all this said and done, I need some suggestions on how to better analyze performance of the test. I am planning to give the GMAT in October this year. My worry after giving the test yesterday is
whether I’ll be able to achieve a target of 700 from 590 in three months’ time. Is it a realistic goal?
And more importantly, what kind of a tentative time line and strategy would help me get there? Please help with your suggestions.Awaiting response,
Arnie
