TGC
Hi experts,
I have given mocks as seen in my signature.
I have bought GMATPrep Exam pack and question pack.
I am not getting good accuracy and a particular successful strategy in CR, so I need advise for below two questions.
(1). My G-Day is on 14th July, so shall I start Question pack for CR or should I do that combining it with RC/SC in the last 14 days.
(2). I have exploited one GMAT Prep exam pack 1, so I want to keep another one for the last weekend before the exam.
(3). Since I have done OG several times, practicing from OG seems repetitive and I am unable to pick a strategy that I would apply in exam since I know answer to each question of OG before even completely reading the stimulus.
So the major questions are should I exploit Exam pack and question pack of CR fully.
Please advise !
Rgds,
TGC!
Dear TGC,
I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties, and I am happy to help.
First of all, if you have time, I definitely would recommend reading the
Economist magazine every week, looking for arguments. There arguments there are subtle and sophisticated, much like the CR arguments on the GMAT. When you read an article there, think about: what's the premise, conclusion, and assumption? what would strengthen or weaken the argument? what would allow us to evaluate the argument? what can we infer that is not explicitly stated? These are questions you should be asking of any argument you encounter right now.
In approaching GMAT CR, it's also helpful to have a general background idea of how the real world works. It's not that you need specific background knowledge to answer any particular question, but if you have good intuition for the "push and pull" of the real world, that will allow you to be more efficient in GMAT CR. Here's the first of a series of articles I wrote providing this background:
https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/gmat-supply-and-demand/There are many other articles on that free blog about GMAT CR that you may find helpful.
For more practice, I would recommend the OG Verbal Review book --- a whole new batch of official questions to practice.
Also, here's a GMAT CR practice question:
https://gmat.magoosh.com/questions/3418When you submit your answer, the following page will have a full video explanation. Each one of
Magoosh's practice questions has its own video explanation: this allows for accelerated learning, because you learn about strategies appropriate to that particular problem.
I hope all this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
Mike
