Hey all,
I am intent on b-school, but have yet to take any real steps toward the application process. I've been doing a lot of reading and practice gmat practice questions, but no serious prep programs or anything. I just wanted some advice on a GMAT timeline/game plan. I finished my undergrad last year and have been working since November. I didn't work much during my undergrad studies (played baseball) so I plan on accruing some steady work experience before starting the application process. My question is, should I wait until I'm a bit closer to my intended matriculation date before taking the GMAT? Or should I take it sooner and have that part of the application taken care of way in advance? I know the test scores are valid for 5 years but I don't know what is ideal.
I'm open to any recommendations! Thanks in advance.
Usually, people work for about 3-4 years before getting into a B-School. I wouldn't suggest you to take GMAT right away since if, due to whatever reason, your app process gets delayed by a year or so, you will be at the cusp of expiry of your score. This is what I would suggest that you do right now:
1. Take a practice test as a diagnostic. You can take our free practice test here:

2. Start working on your weaknesses slowly but consistently - say an hour a day and 2 hrs on Saturday. Work on your reading skills and conceptual understanding of areas tested in Quant.
3. After a year, once your concepts are strong, prepare full steam for 2-3 months and take the test.
