Hi yadu9991,

The score drop in Verbal on your Official GMAT implies that either something you did during practice was unrealistic or something on Test Day was a "surprise" (or wasn't properly accounted for). So I have a few more questions:

1) When you took your CATs, did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take any of these CATs more than once?
3) What time of day did you take these CATs and what time of day was Test Day?

4) What did you do in the last few days before your GMAT?
5) How did you sleep the night before the Test?
6) How long was the ride to the Testing Center from your home?

Your 680 is "in range" of all of the Schools that you named, so you should not hold back on any of those applications. Remember that Admissions Officers look at the strength of your OVERALL application, so no GMAT score (not even an 800) would guarantee you anything. Your approach last time was "book heavy", which might have contributed to your lower score on Test Day. If you do plan to retest, you should consider investing in some additional computer-based resources.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hey Rich,

Please find below the info you require.

1) When you took your CATs, did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)? - I didn't attempt the essays but I attempted the IR sections.
2) Did you take any of these CATs more than once? - Score card that I've mentioned is for my 1st attempts. However, I attempted them GMAT Prep twice.
3) What time of day did you take these CATs and what time of day was Test Day? - I attempted all the tests in the morning (started at 9 am)

4) What did you do in the last few days before your GMAT? - in the last 2 days, I just revised the error log and quant formulas. Prior to the last 2 days, I gave mocks once in 2 days for about 2 weeks.
5) How did you sleep the night before the Test? - I slept 7 hours before the night. However, I was little nervous and all the chemical reactions were happening rapidly :-D
6) How long was the ride to the Testing Center from your home? - Ride to the testing center is 30 minutes from my home.

In my opinion, I started very well in both the sections but after attempting 20 questions in verbal I felt mental fatigue. Also, I felt that in tough verbal questions (May be those were 700+ ones), I usually eliminated 3 answer choices only and ended up guessing in the last 2 remaining choices.

Which computer based course would you suggest ( GMAT Pill, e-gmat, and Crack Verbal) or if you have anyone in mind, then please suggest.

Regards
Neeraj

D/a,

I have done the self study and gave GMAT last year. I scored 680 in total (49 Quant and 33 Verbal).

However, I'm not satisfied with the score and feel that I need some expert help, to increase my score by 50-70 points. I need the honest opinions by the people who have really aced the GMAT. Also, Please mention the faculty name under which you have studied.

I'm planning to give the GMAT in the 1st week of July 2015. So, I have approx. 4 months to ace the GMAT.

Thanks & Regards
Neeraj

Hi Neeraj,

680 is a good score. You have a great potential for improvement and you have enough time to prepare for your target of 700+.

Take as many practice tests as possible. However, more important than taking a mock test is to analyse your performance in the same. If you spend 2 hours on a mock test, spend 6 hours in analyzing the same. Figure out better, smarter and faster ways by which you can continuously keep improving your score. Make sure you apply them in next mock test.Doing this consistently will improve your score a lot.

Let us know if you would have any questions for gmat preparation and we would be happy to guide. Wish you the best
