1) What resources have you been using during your studies?
I am using OG13, Magoosh online , Gmatclub questions, MGMAT SC .

Verbal Analysis:
I am doing good in CR and I am able to do almost all CR questions correctly. SC I pretty okay but can improve. I am getting most of my RC questions wrong.

Quant Analysis:
I am doing a lot of silly mistakes . I still need to improve on some of my concepts. Math is my strength so I want to push it to Q50.

3) Have you been taking the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
No. I just took quant and verbal.

4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
I am planning to take GMAT on April 7 and have not yet booked my slot. I plan to apply from first round of admissions.

Hi crezme,

Since you've been skipping the Essay and IR sections of your CATs, none of those CAT scores is completely accurate. The good news is that you have plenty of time to fix that problem - you just have to make sure to take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections) EVERY TIME from here on out.

With your Scaled Scores, you have an opportunity to pick up points in both the Quant and Verbal sections. While you've identified some of your 'weak' spots, you'll likely need to learn some new tactics for both sections (so that you can "see" the GMAT in a different way and respond accordingly). Since you've been studying for so long, you've likely developed some 'bad habits' that need to be fixed/removed. "Your way" of doing things is not going to get you to a 700+ score. As such, you're likely going to need to fix those silly mistakes that you mentioned and invest in some new resources.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi,
I have been preparing for 7-8 months on and off. I have a fair idea of the topics tested in GMAT. I have been constantly scoring around 640 in my recent CATS( Q44 , V30). I am lost ! I have no idea how to bring my scores up. I am planning to take GMAT in 2 months time. I need a solid study plan to improve my scores to 700+ level. Please help me.

Regards,
crezme

Hi Crezme,

We are sure you are thorough with your basics. In your case we would advise you to take as many practice tests as you can.

Keep taking mock tests in real test taking environment. However, more important than taking a mock test is to analyse your performance in the same. If you spend 2 hours on a mock test, spend 6 hours in analyzing the same. Figure out ways by which you can continuously keep improving your score. And make sure you apply them in your next test.Remember GMAT is not only about working hard but working smart as well.Keep doing this and you will definitely see your scores improving.

Also, keep reading our blogs on the link below. This will help you a lot in your GMAT preparation.

Hi crezme,

Since you mentioned that you're struggling with RC, I thought I'd provide specific tips on how to approach it. RC is a tough one, and many people seem to lose track of time or lose concentration in that section. I recommend taking notes while reading those long passages (if you don't already). This will keep you focused. As you take notes, practice determining the main idea, tone, type and structure of texts. Pay attention to how the text flows. Keep an eye out for changes in opinions or content.

You can practice every day by reading publications like The Economist (ahem) or the New York Times Op-ed section.

Hope this helps a bit. Best of luck!

For a 2 month study plan, we recommend the following: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... study-plan

The structure is still the same as that of our 1 month study plan -- but spread out to give you more time. You still would focus intensely on a particular subsection first before moving onto the next.
