Hi,
I recently gave my GMAT exam and got a overall score of 690 (AWA 6.0, IR 8.0, Quant 49, Verbal 34 - I did some silly mistakes in quant, I have always scored Q50 or 51 in my mock tests).
My problem lies in Verbal section. I have done OG 13 and OG VR2 end to end twice and I understand and acknowledge all SC/RC rules, frameworks and approaches. But I am not able to apply all SC rules or comprehend to RC passages under test conditions after 2.5 hours of mental fatigue and then I start applying my ears instead of logic which leads to a lot of mistakes. Because I am really good with Quant and IR so my critical reasoning skills are good and it comes naturally to me (I am usually 90% accurate in CR) and this always saves my score in Verbal and takes it to 34-35, but I am not able to progress any further.
Initially I thought my concepts are weak. To test this theory, I paused two GMAT Prep exams (EP1) after completing Quant section took a break of 6-7 hours in which I slept for couple of hours and resumed directly on verbal section in these circumstances I ended up getting 39 and 41 respectively. But when, I re-took the same exams as full length tests with question repeated I ended up with 34 and 36 respectively - majority of mistakes in SC followed by RC, I usually do well in CR.
I am not sure any prep program that focuses on content or theory can help me, as I already know the course material and approaches well. I have completed e-gmat's verbal online program (their content is really good and all instructors are top notch).
I have started to think that somewhere in my subconscious mind I do not like doing SC and RC, so problem lies in approach to tackle them and not in knowledge. I am stuck and can't think of anything that can help me improve. Any pointers from GMAT club veterans and experts are highly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance.
