Hi jennyh,

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/-30 points of actual ability. This is meant to say that you could have easily scored 540+ on Test Day with a few minor adjustments to how you handled the Test. Many Schools prefer a higher Quant Scaled Score, so there is some benefit to putting an extra emphasis on that section during your studies.

You didn't actually answer most of my questions though. Those answers will impact the advice that that I'll offer. In the broader sense, many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) on their studies before they hit their peak scores, so it's likely that you have not put in enough time and effort yet.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi :) so I realize my goal score is well below most, just getting that out of the way. :P
I took the gmat a few days ago, my scaled scores were IR - 7, V - 33, and Q - 28. I really messed up on quantitative and ended up with a 510. I have extremely bad anxiety, which lead my 1 minute late start to the quantitative section dictate my performance.

The average GMAT score of my desired school is 540.

I guess I'm posting this thread for a little guidance, should I take the exam again? Admissions counselors like to see consistency in scaled scores, correct?
How can I get better at the quantitative section? (I find myself really worrying about time, so I just attempt the question for a minute, then look at the time, freak out, and guess) I already have the GMATprep software question pack 1, where can I find questions similar to this? Thank you!

Yes, I would suggest you to retake. It is always good to have a score which is at least equal to the class average. Then it doesn't raise any red flags. The more, the merrier.
As for the Quant section, I suggest you to go through the complete curriculum of a test prep provider. Since you already have the MGMAT set, go ahead and work through it from first page to last page. Ensure that you understand everything. Take some outside help if required.

If you do take these steps, it should be easy to bump up your score to 590-600. Your verbal is decent. In addition, a Quant score of 38 - 39 should take you there. Work on your basics - the 10 point improvement will come. You have an IR 7 - that's commendable! It certainly shows capability. Now it is only a question of putting in some hard work.
