Hi Guys,
I am just back from my first GMAT attempt. I got 630 (IR – 7 (81%), Quant – 47 (68%), Verbal – 30 (50%), total percentile – 70%). Background: 28, non-native, master degree in economics, work in finance.
Target GMAT – 730 in next 2 month.
I spent approximately 2 month of preparation: quant by some general book with standard gmat book overview, verbal –
Magoosh. From 26 March I am starting E-Gmat verbal live prep course to get some overall improvement in verbal.
So some concerns / questions to experts:
1) In Quant I feel that I can do better, my main problem on the test were 600+ and 700+ questions. When I saw them I understand that it will take for me 10 or more minutes to calculate it so several times I skipped them. Can you recommend what to do to handle better complex quant problems?
2) Aprox. 1/3 of verbal it was just guessing, I don’t really have time to analyze. But I believe that egmat will help me.
3) My core strategy is to get Quant to maximum (90-95%) and improve verbal as much as possible (believe in 70-80%).
So I will be happy if you share some thoughts with me.
Thank you
