Hello,

I would be giving my gmat tomorrow and I am pretty sure I am going to get a poor gmat score in the range of 450's.

I have a full time job, and I was under the impression that I would be able to prepare for a month and score 600+ in the gmat. I was wrong.

I got held up and I was unable to prepare and I have been preparing from the last 10 days on and off. I took a test from mba.com and scored a 440 and a 460.

I do not have an option to re-schedule my test now and I am going ahead with the test.

My questions are-

1. Is it a wise decision to cancel my test scores? Or let the score reflect in my profile?

2. I plan on giving on the gmat in the month of September. Is 2.5 months enough to increase my points by 200?

3. I plan on spending 10 hours a week on gmat. Is this sufficient?

4. I have enrolled myself to magoosh, and I have the official guide 2017. Do I need any additional materials? Kindly suggest.

My target score is 650+. Is this achievable?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Prashanth R

How did your exam go?

You need to build the concepts/fundamentals before you jump in solving the problems. You can do so by choosing one of the following ways:
1. In person classes/private tutoring
2. Online classes
3. Self paced online preparatory course
4. Book heavy approach

Whatever you choose, make sure that you choose one. Because GMAT tests you on some concepts and fundamentals that you can learn from a course. Most of the preparatory companies including ours offer a free trial of our course. You can take the trial and see if the course suits your needs.

In addition to the preparatory material, buy the Official Guides(both the Official Guide and the Verbal Review), Question Pack 1 and the 4 official mock CATs. They should be an indispensable part of your preparation.

You need close to 3 months to prepare well for the GMAT.
1. Understand the concepts and fundamentals before jumping into problem solving
2. Solve full length CATs including AWA and IR. You can get two free GMAT Prep mock CATs and can purchase two more from mba.com
3. Make sure you solve the official questions from the Official Guide

Hi Prachu1991,
magoosh course is thorough, and is best for both quant and verbal. After you finish the video lessons of a concept, do additional practice from the Official guide and use the gmatclub's tags to navigate the concept you have just learned moving up from 500 level, to 600 level to ultimately 700 level. That way you will master the concept. Moreover, I could suggest you to consider the manhattan strategy guides as well. Best of luck for you studies.
