Help for choosing GMAT Prep material for 720+ score

Question

I am a final year BE student and will appear for the GMAT Exam in May 2018 with ambition of 720+ score . Can some one guide me

a) Which books to use ..Offline or on line .. Would like to have first basics ( OG) and than advanced from Man or Kap ????

b) When do i give the Mock exam ? Would like to finish up OG in 15 days and than appear for Mock ?????

Can someone help ?

I think this is the best decision to start so early and get through GMAT hurdle. Let me provide the answers to your query. a) Which books to use ..Offline or on line .. Would like to have first basics ( OG) and than advanced from Man or Kap ? Offline: Buy latest version of Official Guide. Buy Manhattan guides(soft copy or hard copy). Online: I believe Magoosh material is the cheapest out there to get through the basics. Once you know basics and strategies, its all about applying them to to the right number of questions. b) When do i give the Mock exam ? This should be your First step. Stop thinking about anything and just download the free version of GMATPrep from www.mba.com and give your first mock religiously. This will help you understand your current level, your weaknesses and how to customise your study plan accordingly. c) Would like to finish up OG in 15 days and than appear for Mock ? I would not prefer this. It's better to go with what I suggested in above question and then start going through the basics. Keep us posted about your scored and we can help you decide the next steps. Hi rajangupta,

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

1) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
2) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Kaplan tests for prep seem to be kind of hard for Quant. Accoding to some reviewers they say they are 800 level so give them a try ! You can even try the free test pd: kudos please

Thanks to all for the feedback . I am going to start my journey and intend taking first prep test on 6/12/17 . I seek following clarification in my mind

1) I am clear that I will be taking GMAC prep test . Is it time bound ????

2) I have been advised that you can take diagnostic test also on Egmat .. What is the difference between diagnostic and GMAC prep test .

Hi rajangupta,

Yes, the Official GMAC practice CATs are 'timed' - and taking each CAT under realistic conditions (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.) IS important. When starting out - and throughout the process - we need an accurate assessment of your skills, strengths and weaknesses. Since a FULL-LENGHT CAT - taken under realistic conditions - is really the ONLY way to properly receive that data, you must do your best to take all of your CATs in a realistic way (including 'timed').
