Hi Rich,

I have taken full lengths cats.

For my sectional score info,

I have reached max 43 in Quant and 27 in verbal.

Application- I guess , i now can apply in the next opening only.i.e September
For 2019 session, considering for the practice, effort and time i need to get my score.

I have no such schools planned in my mind,
I aim to get the desired score and then search for schools.

Suggestions will be appreciated

Thanks,
Sawan

Hi Sawan Kumar,

To properly assess your current skills, strengths and weaknesses, I really need to know the exact Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores you earned on EACH CAT. If there are patterns in your performances, then we need to define them (and if there are inconsistencies, then it helps to know about those before you continue studying).

1) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?

Since you're not planning to apply to Business School until September, you have plenty of time to continue studying and improving - which is good. To hit 700+ though, you're going to have to hone specific skills and commit to a consistent study routine.

Hi Rich,

Out of my four CATs

My score was
1st - Q 42, V 27
2nd-Q 43, V 25
3rd- Q 41, V 27
4th- Q 43, V 27..

In verbal the pattern which i faced was in one cat i failed miserably due to RC and got 85 percent of my cr questions correct,
In another i failed miserably in cr and got my rc correct.
Sc has been consistent with 60-65 percent accuracy.

Help is highly appreciated.

Regards,
Sawan

Hi Sawan Kumar,

In your original post, you referred to 6 CAT scores, so I'm going to assume that the data in this last post is from your last 4 CATs.

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, these 4 CAT score results show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 570 +/- a few points). While you might naturally improve as you continue to study, you mentioned that your studies so far have been 'book heavy' and many Test Takers who use study in that way end up getting 'stuck' at a particular score level. This is meant to say that you'll likely end up needing to invest in some new non-book resources to hit your Score Goal.

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

3-4 month is pretty enough time so you can start with Best comprehensive material

Best Books

1. Manhattan GMAT Quant Guides

Hi Sawan Kumar,

You should dedicate around 2 months to improve your score. It’s a good thing you have been taking GMAT Mocks regularly. You now know your weaknesses and work on them. If you are willing to study dedicatedly for 2 months, you are sure to achieve your goal. I believe you may benefit from taking a GMATPREP course. If you are willing, there are some great GMAT prep companies that can help you with your preparation.

In order to make an informed decision I would highly encourage you to go to their websites and try on their free trial and decide for yourself which one do you like better. You try out free access to EmpowerGMAT, Magoosh and Optimus Prep as they have great reviews on GMATCLUB.

Also for verbal, I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market. You can easily track your progress in that you can identify your strengths and analyze and improve on your weak areas.

I must add that if you are particularly looking to discover and improve on your weak areas in Quant; a subscription to GMATCLUB tests is the best way to do that. They are indeed phenomenal and will not only pinpoint your weak areas but also help you improve on them.

Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Experts' Global mock Tests in my experience have good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practice tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

Lastly I would also encourage you to purchase the latest version of OG and the verbal review for some great additional practice. Here is a link that will help you with your decision.

Hope this helps. All the best.
