I am booked for my first test date six weeks from now. While I hope to score 720+, I plan to take it a second time if I don't score as well as I'd like. That said, I have a very particular test date in mind (three weeks after my first test) because my calendar gets very busy after that and I know I won't be able to commit the time I need to keep up the studying momentum. Am I allowed to book a second test date before I take it the first time? Are there any downsides to doing so (aside from the $250 test fee and cancellation/rescheduling fees if I don't go through with it)? I just want to have it on the calendar since I expect it will be a popular test date (a Saturday).
And to be clear, if I score much below my target score on my first try, I will reschedule the second test to a later date; if I almost meet my target score and think I can do better with a little bit of studying, I will keep the second test; and if I meet/exceed my target score, I will cancel it.
Just want to make sure there isn't anything I'm missing. Thanks!

As far as I understand, I believe system will allow you to book the 2nd test as well but you need to make sure the gap between the two must be as per the standards. In case you plan to postpone your 1st slot, you will also need to do so for the 2nd one. Hence, this will require you do spend another $100.
If you don't do so, GMAC will cancel your 2nd slot automatically no matter what. It does involve the risk of loosing the entire amount because if their system doesn't cancel your 2nd test and you happen to appear for it, they will cancel it on a later stage with no refunds.
Personally, I would never prefer to book the 2nd test unless you are done with the 1st.
