Hi Everyone,
So I had made up my mind to crack the GMAT in Jan 2018. I started taking coaching classes from TPR (since it was the only coaching center available in my town for GMAT, and I wasn't confident about the effectiveness of online course back then on me). I completed the course last month but I wasn't able to devote much time at home as I was pretty busy in my job. Seeing that I wont be able to study at all considering my working hours. I decided to take study leave from the month of May.
So now, I have started a study routine. Currently, I'm trying to complete all the drills on TPR online portal as advised by the teachers in TPR. My progress is pretty slow since I'm spending a lot of time in analyzing my mistakes, maintaining error logs and reading answer explanations. I'm not able to balance out b/w Quant and verbal, as quant itself is taking 7-8 hours a day. I have never been confident of my ability in Quant.
Also, I haven't really read a lot of promising reviews about TPR so I'm quite unsure if I'm doing right. I aim to score a 750 and right now I'm far behind my target. I scored a 480 (Q-35 and V-19) on TPR mock test (timed) and later 650 on 2nd mock test (Q-40 and V-41), ( I took an untimed test becoz i was too scared to give a timed test since I thought I wasn't prepared). I completed quant on time but I took 20 mins extra to complete the verbal section.
I have taken leave for 3 months and I desperately want to achieve my target score in this span.
Kindly, help me set a realistic goal. Is 480 to 750 leap even possible by an average person within 3 months? Also, how should I device my preparation strategy to ensure that I'm heading right? When is the right time to give a practice test? Is it when you feel you have covered the basics of all topics?

To start, taking untimed CATs is NOT a good way to measure your progress, so to receive an accurate score result, you have to take those Exams in a more realistic way. Since you've put in some study time already, it would help to have a realistic measure of your current skills, strengths and weaknesses. As such, I strongly recommend that you take one of the Official GMAC CATs and take it in a realistic fashion (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.). Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss how best to proceed.
Raising a 480 to a 750+ will be a challenging task - and will likely require at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study (and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections). Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level. In addition, NO Business School actually requires a Score that high, so you have to remember that the Score that you "want" and the Score that you "need" (to get into your first-choice School) are NOT the same thing.

Hi animag1394,
3 months is good enough to improve your score. It’s a good thing you have taken your GMAT Mocks. You now know your weaknesses and work on them. If you are willing to study dedicatedly for 3 months, you are sure to achieve your goal. I believe you may benefit from taking a GMATPREP course. If you are willing, there are some great GMAT prep companies other than TPR that can help you with your preparation.
In order to make an informed decision I would highly encourage you to go to their websites and try on their free trial and decide for yourself which one do you like better. You try out free access to EmpowerGMAT, Magoosh and Optimus Prep as they have great reviews on GMATCLUB.
Also for verbal, I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market. You can easily track your progress in that you can identify your strengths and analyze and improve on your weak areas.
You can also try out the MGMAT guides they are phenomenal and cover the entire syllabus really well. MGMAT foundation of GMAT Quant anf foundation of GMAT verbal will particularly help you solidify your base. I must add that if you are particularly looking to discover and improve on your weak areas in Quant; a subscription to GMATCLUB tests is the best way to do that. They are indeed phenomenal and will not only pinpoint your weak areas but also help you improve on them.
Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.
Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.
