How to move from 410 to 600

Question

I gave my gmat on 9th Aug getting a score of 410(v14,q32).I am planning to take the retest in Sept mid as I have to send my scores to colleges.kindly advise how should I prepare and get atleast 600.

Sorry to hear that your GMAT didn't go well. A score of 410 suggests that you need considerable improvement in both Quant and Verbal.
I would suggest to study from the MGMAT guides. They are comprehensive and cover the entire GMAT syllabus. Then solve questions from the OG and analyze each question carefully. If you have any doubts, search the question in the forum. You will definitely find all the questions discussed here. Then appear for a Gmatprep test and check your progress.
IMO it is difficult to achieve a 600 from a 410 in such a short time. I would suggest to give yourself some more time for proper preparation. Generally it takes about 3-4 months for reaching optimum preparedness but it varies from person to person.

To start, raising a 410 to a 600+ will likely require at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level. That having been said, you will almost certainly need more time than you have allotted, so you might need to adjust your timeline a bit.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

You can start with Quant or Verbal which suits you. If you have started with Quant then Start with the Arithmetic but if started with verbal then start first with Sentence correction. One month for learning Quant concepts and one month for practicing question and same practice for Verbal. During you Practicing question don't forget to make an error log to track your weak areas after practice. Once you know your weak areas revise your Concepts related to those areas and do some more Practice. 6-8 CATs are enough for practice the real tests. Make your Stamina for sitting 3 hours in the test and don't study more than 2 hours in one sit and 4 hours per day

Your Quant score is at about 20 percentile and Verbal is at 10 percentile. This means substantial effort is required in both. For Quant, I would suggest you to first review your school books (8th, 9th and 10th) if you are facing problems in basics such as dealing with fractions, algebraic manipulations, basic Geometry etc. Once these are in order, you can pick the GMAT curriculum of your choice and go through that end-to-end, ensuring that you work through all examples and understand the concepts very well. Also, instead of just reading from the books, an on-demand videos course or an instructor led course might be more suitable to you. Normally, this takes about 3-4 months of consistent effort so you might want to plan accordingly. Given that you plan to retake GMAT soon, you should focus more on verbal as it may benefit you more. You can consider E-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live are both amazing courses that can really help you improve your scores.

I personally do not think one should Focus on too many different things. It may be nice to give a couple of mocks (the official ones) and work on your weaknesses, but trying something new might not work in anyone’s favour. However if you want to improve on any individual area such as Sentence Correction, you may subscribe to the course as you can finish the whole course in 10 days (with proper dedication). If however you are only looking to indentify and improve on your weak areas, I would encourage you to purchase the e-gmat scholaranium. It is without a doubt, one of the best practice tools for verbal and will indeed help you on the final leg of your preparations.
