Two container A and B have same capacity. In container A,petrol and diesal are in the ratio of 1:3 and this ratio is 1:4 for container B.Half of the quantity of container A is poured in tank B and then same quantity of the resulting mixture is again poured back in container A. What is the ratio of petrol and diesel in the resulting mixture of container A?
Posted from my mobile devicelet the initial volume of the solutions be 60 ( LCM of 1+3,1+4 3( as we move 1/2 of a to B , at this point vol ratio of a & B will be 1:3))
( 60 is an easy number .....in this case)
Initial : Soln A: Total=60 Petrol=15 Diesel=45 &
Soln B: Total=60 Petrol=12 Diesel=48
Just removing 1/2 from A : Soln A: Total=30 Petrol=7.5 Diesel=22.5 &
Soln B: Total=60 Petrol=12 Diesel=48
After 1st Iteration( adding removed half to B : Soln A: Total=30 Petrol=7.5 Diesel=22.5 &
Soln B: Total= 90 Petrol= 19.5 Diesel= 70.5
Just removing 30(1/3) from B : Soln A: Total=30 Petrol=7.5 Diesel=22.5 &
Soln B: Total= 60 Petrol= 13 Diesel=47
After 2nd Iteration( adding removed half to A : Soln A: Total= 60 Petrol=14 Diesel=46 &
Soln B: Total= 60 Petrol= 13 Diesel=47
P: D in A = 14:46=7:23
