I'm planning to take the GMAT test for the 1st time after 40 days .

My skills in math is basic and weak ,and my I'm not native English but I usually score 75% in toefl or any English test.

I have bought GMAT Official Guide 2019: Book + Online as a study material, and the needed score is 450.

I don't know from where to start and which self study plan do I follow, some plans I went through are intense and target a very higher score.


I would be glad to listen for an expert opinion for my case. thank you

Hi Aldousari I would be more than happy to help. If the goal is to target such score you would only need to cover some basic materials. The OG is good for practice and you may learn some fundamentals from solving the questions but that may not be the best option. How many hours are you planning to put per day? Did you take a mock exam to see your current level?

Hi Aldousari,

Since you need only a 450 on your actual GMAT, it’s quite possible that you are already close to that score. Thus, before determining the next steps, you should take an official GMAT practice exam to get a baseline score and see how far you are from your 450 goal score.

Once you complete the exam, please report back here, and I can provide some further advice.

Hi Aldousari,

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) When you say that you "need" a 450, does that mean that Score would guarantee you entry into a specific Business School Program? Or is that the minimum Score needed just to apply (meaning that you might actually "need" a higher Score than that)?
2) What is your exact Test Date?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
