Hi Experts,
Need your 2 cents on my current predicament.
I gave the GMAT this week and got a 710 (V38 and Q 49). But ended up with a damning 3 on IR. It was unexpected. (although IR has been a sort of a fluke for me during the practice tests ranging from 3-7 - sometimes the mind just doesn't work after an exhaustive session on q and v
). Also I got a 6 on AWA.
In light of this, would you guys suggest a retake? I believe I can put together a stellar application.
A little background, I come from a niche field (deep sea engineering - oil and gas + defence) and have around 4 years of international experience.(6 in total) and have been steadily climbing up the leadership ladder.
Do you think a retake would be worth it? just for the IR?
Do schools reject an application just based on a lower than average IR score?

First off, a 710/Q49 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is probably not necessary. Many Business Schools have publicly stated that they don't use the IR score as part of the application process, so you likely have nothing to worry about there. If you would like to know how a specific Program views the IR Score though, then you can reach out directly and ask (most School's Admissions Departments will be glad to answer any application questions that you might have). As far as the AWA/Essay is concerned, many Programs expect that Applicants should be able to score at least a 4.0 - and with a 6.0, you clearly have that covered.
Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:
