Yesterday I gave GMAT (offline) after almost 4 months of preparation. I got a 540. I was so disappointed and sad that I came home and cried my eyes out. I really want to get a 750 or 750+ score and am planning on applying to R2. So I have a month or so to give my GMAT again. I would really like some suggestions on how to go about now, how I can improve my score. I am seriously clueless as of now.
Preparation done: I had studied from Experts global for 3 months and TTP for a month. I couldn't complete all of TTP as it is vast. My practice test used to be in range Q(42-45) and V(30-35). I find SC and CR a bit difficult. Also I didn't study continuously. My study time was on-off (studying for a few days and then few days break).
Looking for some help and guidance.

I'm sure you can achieve your GMAT score goal. At the same time, achieving a 700+ GMAT score is a pretty significant endeavor.
So, there's no mystery here and nothing terrible going on. You just have to improve the way you have been preparing.
For instance, yes, the Target Test Prep GMAT course is "vast." At the same time, you're seeing why it's vast. There's a reason why only a small percentage of people score 700+ on the GMAT, and an even smaller percentage score 750+. To score at such levels, you have to be highly skilled, and becoming highly skilled can take a lot of work. In fact, it can take completing all of the TTP GMAT course, then taking practice tests, and then working on your weakers areas until you hit your score goal.
So, when someone scores 550, 650, or 750 on the GMAT, there's no mystery to what's going on. We can trace the person's score right back to his or her preparation.
You've done some good preparation so far, and at the same time, you need to do more. To achieve a 97th percentile score, you have to do 97th percentile preparation. That's all.

Also, maybe reading Dalal's debrief will make you feel better. She started way below 550, and scored 350 on her second GMAT, yet ended up scoring 780. So, take some inspiration and get some ideas from what she did, and pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and make your dreams happen.

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day did not turn out better. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
1) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores on your Official GMAT?
2) How many hours do you typically study each week?
3) What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
