Hi jujulee,

I have an important question. When did you take your official practice tests and what did you score on those tests? Once I have that information, I can provide some advice on how to move forward over the next two weeks.

Hello ScottTargetTestPrep
Thanks for asking and your reply.

So I bought the rest of official practice tests early on (1,2 free and I bought 3~6 bundle),
Practice test 1 (October 24) 680 Q47 V36
Practice test 2 (November 3) 710 Q49 V38
Practice test 3 (November 20) 700 Q50 V34
-------Took real test at the test center and got 670 (Q48 V34)
Practice test 4 (December 3) 710 Q51 V35
Practice test 5 (December 7) 690 Q47 V38
Practice test 6 (December 13) 730 Q50 V39
-------Took real test at the test center and got 650 (Q47 V32), so I cancelled

I finished OG, OG verbal, OG Quant, made up error logs for these tests above and some others (and I know I have weakness in CR and DS, also RC under time pressure)
I also have some issue with time management, for the last 2~3 questions I always find myself rushing, and feeling under the pressure, I can't seem to solve any of those 2~3 questions properly...
Hope this could give you some idea of how I studied and what scores I got for practice tests. And please feel free to ask me anything!

The good news: it will be super easy for you to reach your target score. In fact, all you have to do to get there is NOTHING.
Do not study at all any more. Congratulations! You've finished studying for the GMAT.

Hello! thanks for your advice, and interestingly enough, my best friend who knows everything about my GMAT journey, and who is also an accomplished lawyer with LSAT experiences told me exactly the same thing, haha. she told me to decompress, go easy on myself, meditate a few days, and then get back on the materials to just review a bit, a few hours a day. I will check out your youtube video and hear your advice on this situation! Thank you for your help.

Hi jujulee,

While I'm sorry to hear that your 2 attempts did not turn out better, a 670/Q48 is still a solid Score - and it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long did you study for your 1st attempt - and how many hours did you typically study each week during that time?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) Did you take any other CATs/mocks besides the 6 Official ones that you listed?
4) Based on your timeline, are you planning to apply to Business School sometime soon? If so, then what Schools are you planning to apply to and what specific application deadlines are you facing?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Based on your practice test scores, it's clear that you are actually in a pretty good spot. Would you say that anxiety could have played a major role in your score decrease on test day?

Hello ScottTargetTestPrep

Yea I guess so. haha.. I just don't know what I should focus on for the next 2 weeks or so for the recovery of this gap between practice test and real test.
So atm I'm just focusing on other aspects of my application, like rec letters by talking with my recommenders, and essays, resume, etc., and will probably get back to reviewing GMAT materials starting next week.. (my next test is Jan 2nd, online)

Thank you for following up on this, appreciate your coments and time. :)

I think you can do some light prep such as topical practice or flashcard review; however, the most important thing is that you walk into your test carefree and mentally fresh....you know?
