Scored 690, need advice on possibility of getting accepted to schools

Question

I would really appreciate if some expert could take a few minutes to respond!

I took my first GMAT today and scored 690 (V35Q35). The IR score is 8. I am an Indian female Chartered Accountant with 4 years of work ex in management consultancy (risk advisory and audits). I would like to know whether I am in the over-represented category or not and whether this is a good score to apply in top 15-20 B Schools?

I really don't want to take this test anymore because, to be honest, it is exhausting.

Hi  KK62432  , IMO a 690 score with Q48 V35 is decently competitive for an Indian female CA targeting top20 schools. Although you do not belong to the over-represented Indian category, I strongly recommend that you demonstrate strong academic inclination through your undergrad scores, academic achievements and awards to improve your chances. It is not unusual for strong applicants with upper 600 scores to make it to their dream school. My suggestion- do not dwell on GMAT score any longer but focus on putting your best foot forward in the essays with a stellar leadership oriented narrative.

Hi KK62432,

First off, a 690/Q48 is a fantastic Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Obviously, there's more to an application than just one's GMAT Score, so since you're ultimately asking Admissions questions, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

As the others have mentioned, that's a very good score, and I think that you should go ahead and use it. You can always take the GMAT again later if you change your mind.
