dont let this score let your morale down ... work on your weaknesses and give another attempt.. also get subscription of official mocks those are worth and should be practised before exam.

Hi Xylo2021,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Have you used any other study materials besides the course that you listed? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
2) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
3) If you had scored 550 on this attempt, would you have stopped studying - or would you have continued studying with the goal of hitting 650?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi all,

I ve just took the GMAT online today and only got only a 480....
Got the official results 5 hours after the GMAT (If someone is curious)

Q41
V17
IR 4
AWA 5.0

I ve been studying for 6 month now with GMATWhiz. (Approx. 10-12 Hours per week) - The last 2 weeks approx. 50-60 h per week....
First 3 month Verbal and the other 3 month Quant.

GMAT Whiz Mocks:
540
550
590
600

Official Mocks:
4 weeks ago: official Mock: 450 (Q20 and V31)
Last week I did the 2nd official mock and got a 560 (Q40 V27)

Goals:

Sufficient would be 550 but my "dream score" would be a 650

For my target master program I "only" need a 550 to apply and with 650 I would be straight admitted....

5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Normally I wanted to apply till the end of April/June....
Now I am planning to apply for next year February....

6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

European Business Schools

Since you have deferred your admission plan, start studying for Verbal passively too, which means that you must read a national English daily/high quality magazine for an hour or two every day. Start reading quality English literature too (I am assuming English is not your first language). These should be non negotiable everyday so incorporate them in your routine - while commuting, before sleeping etc.
Also, you might want to look at the Verbal material of another test prep for more ideas on strategies etc. Don't use up all your official verbal material just yet. In fact, you can try out LSAT material first (counterintuitive but diff situations call for diff plans). Improve your comfort and understanding first and then try a few official questions everyday. Review them really well to ensure that you understand the way the test makers think - the correct option as well as the incorrect options. There is no reason why your Verbal score shouldn't see a big increase.
Also, keep working on Quant too. If you push them together, 650 is not far.

For specific suggestions, it may be helpful to add in your post what you found difficult. For example, on Verbal, was it reading through the passages on RC or time management throughout the entire section you found challenging. Memorizing idioms/phrase combos commonly tested on the GMAT such as Like A, B... can help with Sentence Correction to a certain extent.

How to get a V40 or higher on the GMAT? What about a V51?

Dear Xylo2021
how is your progress going? Some time ago, I have practiced in the same way as you did, and the upshot was pretty similar to yours.
The issue was that I could not comprehend so much information in the small period of time. Now I have employed TTP service, sticking to its dedicated study plan.
Finding the right prep platform that will work for you is an arduous task.

Hi BLTN,

I am about to restart my GMAT prep in a few weeks with (most probably) e-gmat.

How is your prep going with TTP?

All the Best

Dear forum members,

I wanted to share an update on my recent GMAT online exam. I took the test for the second time, exactly one year after my first attempt, and I scored a 580. I am very happy with my performance and grateful for the resources and support provided by this forum. - Sounds funny as everyone in this forum tries to reach the 700+ :D

Offical GMAT (2nd attempt):
580
Q41
V27

Offical Mock 3 (Two weeks ag)
620
Q42
V34

However, I must also share that my test-taking experience was challenging and stressful. During my exam (GMAT Online), I encountered a proctoring issue that caused a significant delay and disrupted my concentration. Specifically, the proctor rejected the room that I had prepared for the exam due to its glass walls, which did not meet the test's room requirements. While I did not find a reference in the policies that explicitly forbids a room with glass walls, I can understand why this could pose a problem for the exam's security and fairness. After a one-hour discussion, I was forced to relocate to another room (took me another 20 min), which caused a further delay and added to my stresslevel.

Despite this issue, I remained focused and determined to complete the exam to the best of my ability. May I would have scored better without this issue?
I followed all the test stratgies and procedures and used the same testing equipment and environment (At least for the prep - besides the proctor issue) for both attempts. I also prepared extensively for the exam using official study materials. I want to highlight that official GMAT verbal materials played a crucial role in improving my verbal score. I utilized official verbal guides, practice exams, and online resources provided by GMAT to focus on building my critical reasoning, reading comprehension, and sentence correction skills.

I hope that my experience can inspire and motivate others who are preparing for the GMAT and are not in the 650+ range at the very beginninbg. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to support the community.

Best regards,

Xylo

If you take or may plan to take the GMAT again, try to get a free retake. Send an email request via customer support regarding your interaction with the proctor and how you felt it impacted your performance.

You can mention how this exam started about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the time it was scheduled.

Thanks for you reply.
If I would receive a free retake voucher for the GMAT, I would definitely taking advantage of it.
The point is that I would like to avoid that they cancel my current score of 580 as i am planning to send it to the Business School.

Besides this I ve heared that it is quite hard to get a response from GMAC contacting them?
