Dear Team,

I would like some help with regards to analysis of my ESR. I studied extremely hard for the GMAT full time for 4 months and I am disappointed that I was unable to get my desired score. I have attached my ESR for further analysis.

A brief background about my GMAT preparation, I started preparing for my GMAT in April 2022. I had given one practice test from a test prep company to know my starting score and got a 490 (V26, Q 32). Subsequently, I started preparing for my GMAT using an online test prep company. I started with verbal and it took me around 2.5 months for the same and subsequently for which I only had time for 2 months. I had not done quant since my 10th grade which was 16 years back and even in school quant used to be one of my weak areas.

Based on my ESR, I would like to know how much time would it take me to get a good gmat score of 700+ based on my current score . During the course of my GMAT preparation, I have completed the entire OG alongwith completing one mock test. Since I was constrained for time, I was unable to take adequate mock tests.

I hope that guidance in the right areas through analysis of my ESR can help me give one more shot.

1. Areas of concern - CR (especially Plan questions), Quant
2. Time management - You guessed on most of the last quarter of Verbal and quite a bit on the last quarter of Quant.
3. You made mistakes on some very easy questions in Quant and that would have had a big impact on your score. The incorrect question in second quarter was at a lower level than your ability and same goes for the two incorrect questions in the third quarter. You cannot leave any topics on Quant, even if you do not delve too much into them. Say if I leave P&C completely and decide to skip any P&C questions I get, I would get even a 500 level question wrong and that's a big penalty. Ensure a basic comfort in every topic and there is no scope for making "silly errors."
You do need to go through the entire curriculum of Quant. That should give you a 10-12 point increase quickly. After that, it will be all about practice.

Hi Nasha90,

Without seeing your ESR, I can tell you that taking only one practice exam is a red flag, so it's quite possible that you were not fully ready to take your GMAT. That said, can you tell me the score breakdown of that practice exam? Also, in the meantime, here is a helpful article you can check out:
