Thanks for your reply, GmatKnightTutor!

Actually, my verbal score in the last mock was 44 and in the official test was 37. My problem was the high drop in the quant section from my last official test (q44) to this last mock (q31). Any advice?

Dear Experts,

I have some questions I would very much appreciate your help with. I have done TTP course and have taken the GMAT in April for the 3rd time (got 660, q44 and v37). Below are my results:

1st gmat 590 (v39, q 32) - Nov 12, 2018 (studying on my own)
2nd gmat (v27, q37) - Dec 19, 2018 (studying on my own)
3rd gmat (v37, q44) - Apr 13, 2023 (finishing 60% of ttp course)

Because I hadn't finished the entire TTP course by the time I took the test and given I managed my time poorly during the verbal section (had to guess 4 questions in a row in a RC passage), I feel there is space to improve. As more than 5 months, in which I haven't studied much, have passed since my last official gmat test, I retook the 1st official mock and got v44 and q31 (quant dropped a lot).

In light of this last results, considering I have 2-4 hours available per day and 6-8 on weekends and want to give a last shot on the GMAT official test (old version), I would very much appreciate your help with the following questions:

-Starting now and given that I have already some foundation and taking into consideration my gmat journey so far, current official score, and current mock assessment, how long would you suggest I study before a retake (I am applying R2)?
-Would you suggest using TTP and/or another resource for review?
-Would you suggest using mock exams from experts global?
-Are there any other additional resources you would suggest for a retake?
-Is there any specific study plan you would suggest I use with a focus on both quant and verbal (heavier on quant)

I can't thank you enough for your help. In case any point is not clear and/or you need additional detail, please let me know!

ps: I can also share my ESR if that helps in the recommendation

Let me try to address some of the queries.

1. Since you are targetting R2 (most deadlines are in Jan 2024) and this is your last attempt, push the exam date to October-end / Nov 1 st week. This will easily give you two months to prepare your applications.
2. Experts Global mock tests are good as per many sources and a change would be good in my personal opinion.
3. Use time trackers to overcome time management issues.
4. Divide your prep wisely. While attempting new tests is crucial, also keep ample time for revision. Focus on understanding mistakes and course correction. All the best! DM in case you have further queries.

Thanks for your advice, gvg123. As per your comment on point 4, percentage-wise, what split would you suggest between review and mock-taking? I am asking this because finishing the 15 mock tests and reviewing them will consume a lot of time during this one month, so I am trying to decide whether I just do some of them and focus on reviewing the content in a resource such as TTP or actually use the mock-taking as a strategy to both practice and review content. What do you think is best?

Hi Scott, could you please share this resource with me. I am talking with Vivek from TTP team in the TTP support chat.
Thanks!

Hi LEOLUCCIOLA,

Since it's been over 5 months since you took your 3rd Official GMAT, it's likely that your overall skills have 'faded' a bit - and that V44 is likely a bit 'inflated' (especially if you saw any questions that you had already faced when you took that CAT/mock before). Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long did you study for your 3rd attempt? How many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far over the course of ALL of your studies? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) Prior to your 3rd attempt, on what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to - and what application deadlines are you facing?

While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). You can feel free to PM it directly to me if you prefer not to publicly post it - and I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
