Swinging back through here to track my journey.
Since I created this post I have:
- Gone through the whole
MGMAT Book Series
- 10/28/23 Taken an
MGMAT CAT (Q44, V32)
- 11/11/23 Taken Official Practice Test 2 (Q42, V40)
+ 10 for 13 on RC
+ 8 for 9 on CR
+ 9 for 14 on SC
I really enjoyed the
MGMAT books, I think they're full of great content and helpful tips - although I haven't really put what I've learned to work quite yet.
I took the
MGMAT CAT just about half way through the course. It was nice to see a bump in my Q, especially considering the fact that I've heard that
MGMAT Q is a little bit tougher than GMAC Q.
Items of note -
1. I was not shocked to see a drop from Q44 to Q42 between the CAT and Official Practice Test 2. I did very little quant practice between those two points in time.
2. The V32 is an artifact of
MGMAT's weird verbal questions and can pretty much be ignored.
3. On Official Practice Test 2, I finished the Q section with 10 minutes to spare and I finished the V section with 9 minutes to spare.
I know what you're thinking, who tf finishes with any time left, and who tffff scores in the top 89 percentile for V with 9 minutes to spare??
I definitely know what I'm doing content wise, but I need to focus on my timing strategies.
My Q needs some refinement in general, as does my SC, and dedicating a little bit more time to RC passages while testing might help me eke out a few more points. I've become TOO good at the coveted "bail when you flail", and bail too quickly.
Additionally, my IR score was absolutely embarrassing. I really need to do some research regarding IR strategy and would like to be more prepared for AWA.
Cheers,
Nick
