Only 1% of people improves 200 points or higher. It would only happen if you had a series of unfortunate events that lead to a very low score on the first attempt and then another series of fortunate events that lead to a high one.

Perhaps that may happen here. Good luck but the bets are off

I recently gave gmat exam and I scored approx 455 . I lacked speed in DI section- I was able to solve on 8 out of 20 questions n which 6 were correct. In Verbal I got 8 questions correct out of 23. In Quants - I was able to get 10 correct out of 21 questions. Today is 13th October- My exam is on 29th October 2024 scheduled. Can someone help me know if I would be able to ace my score from the existing score?
Hi addyshahaddyshah,

The easiest way to check how close you can get to your target score is to continue prepping, and then take an official practice test to measure your progress. As for whether you can do it, that depends entirely on you and the work you put in now, and whether your 415/455 is representative.

Many people do get that kind of score in real exam ( if that's what you said ). Yes, you can definitely increase your score in 2 weeks with a definite plan. If I might ask , why did you book your exam if you were not ready?

Have you already invested some time in GMAT Prep? If you knew the question types beforehand and have reviewed the topics at least once, an improvement on 200 points in 15 days in very unlikely. If 650+ is a must, consider re-scheduling in that case.

If you took the test as a first step to GMAT prep and are not aware of the question types but have a solid conceptual Math understanding and are good at verbal in general, then it is possible.

Hi Addyshahaddyshah,

If I’m being 100 percent honest with you, I don’t think it’s going to be possible to improve by a serious amount in the next two weeks. That said, if you put your head down and focus on a longer term strategy, I think any score goal is possible. With that in mind, I’m happy to provide some advice on how you should move forward with your prep.

Regarding your study plan, I recommend concentrating on one subject at a time while studying. This allows for thorough understanding and practice, which is key to improving your score.
For example, let's consider your study of Number Properties. First, immerse yourself in all aspects of this topic, and then, focus solely on Number Property questions. After each problem set, take the time to delve into your incorrect answers. This self-reflection is a powerful tool that allows you to understand your learning process and make significant improvements. For instance, if you made a mistake in a remainder question, ask yourself why. Was it a careless error? Did you not apply the remainder formula correctly? Was there a concept in the question that you didn't grasp?

By meticulously analyzing your mistakes, you will efficiently address your weaknesses and, consequently, enhance your GMAT quant skills. This process has been unequivocally proven to be effective. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all Quant, Verbal, and DI topics.
