I am unable to complete all the DI questions in time
At max I can complete 16-17 qns in time

Usually, around 5 or 6 DI questions are math-related DS questions. So, one good move for speeding up in DI is to practice DS a lot to speed up in DS. With practice, you can get to a point such that you're answering DS questions in well under 2 minutes, leaving yourself more time for other types of DI questions.
Also, practicing DS will help you learn to answer other types of DI questions faster because the skills used in answering DS questions, such as skill in considering constraints and various angles of a situation, can be applied in answering other types of DI questions.
Other than that, a lot of practice in which you consider how to answer DI questions most efficiently by determining what information is relevant and being methodical and organized will result in your speeding up.

Not doing so can really affect how well you handle DI questions, as many of those questions involve quantitative and verbal concepts. So, would you say you are in that boat?
In addition, one way to improve each individual DI question type is to engage in topical practice. Doing so lets you pinpoint your weak areas in JUST ONE question type. For example, when practicing TPA questions, perhaps you see a pattern that you struggle with 3-part ratios or weighted averages. If you can find those micro weaknesses, you can fix them in real-time and thus improve your accuracy in DI questions..
Lastly, when working on DI questions, for the time being, make sure to practice them untimed so you can focus on JUST accuracy. As you become more familiar with these question types and get more accurate, better timing will follow.
