Scored 595 on GMAT Focus

Question

Hi all,

After months of preparation, I managed to score a meagre 595 :'(

DI 78, Q84, V77/78 (Official score yet to come)

I have practised my mocks according to Q-DI-V. Followed same in my actual test.

In my mocks, I could score around 645 with Verbal hovering around 82-83.

How do I improve my score in next two weeks? I want to apply to Jan intake before March deadline, and some Feb deadlines.

Did you go with Quant first because it's your strongest? Seems your performance dipped after Quant and remained stable.

Yep, that's how I have practised througoout my prep.

You should try changing your section order. I attempt the toughest section before, and the easiest section at last because i’m more focused at the start of the test. After completing 2 sections, i feel drained so i attempt the section i’m super good at the last.
Also, try taking sectional tests or mocks daily to get better at time management.

Considering where you scored on your practice exams, you are in a pretty good spot!

That said, you do need to continue to find your holes and fix those to help improve your score. Thus, engaging in topical practice is a great way to do so. Let's use quant as an example.

For example, let’s say you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, it's crucial to delve into the questions you answered incorrectly.

For instance, if you stumbled on a remainder question, take a moment to reflect. Was it a careless error? Did you fail to apply the remainder formula correctly? Was there a concept in the question that eluded you? This analysis is key to your learning process.

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.
