I recently took the GMAT and scored 685(Q84,V86,D83). My previous score was 675 (D82, V80, Q89). I'm an Indian male engineer from IIT Bombay, currently working as a Product Manager at a big firm and I am targeting M7. While I’m happy with my score, I’m debating whether I should retake the exam to strengthen my application considering the the Indian Male Engineer pool is pretty competitive, and my score might be below average for top programs.

Should I aim for a higher score (e.g., 705+), or focus on strengthening other parts of my application, like essays, LORs, and extracurriculars?
I'm also in a similar situation, I have recieved a wide range of suggestions, To summarize them score might be just fine, Our applications and essays do matter a lot. So focus on them on priority. Anyways we need to apply for R1/R2 so we have ample time to reattempt and update scores later.

If you want to focus on the reattemt on the GMAT Focus let's connect and prepare as I'm also aiming for 705+ and targetting the M7

685 is certainly a great score, but I do have a question. What were you scoring on your offiical practice exams?

There is no need to retake. Start writing essays for R1.

One factor you might consider is time:

If you are short on time for your overall application, the marginal utility of time spent on essays, etc. might be better than that spent on prep for another retake.

If you still have some time, indeed there seems to be still some headroom for your score improvement. Hope you figure out what has been causing the gap between your actual exam results and your mock scores.

All the best!

Would suggest doing a profile eval with some admission consultant to get a better picture. All the best!
