Profile Evaluation

Question

Below are the details of my profile. Can you please help me to decide, which colleges should I apply. I am thinking of applying to both Masters in Management( Europe ) and MBA courses ( North America and Asia ).

Class X - 86% ( with merit certificate in social science, which is given to top 0.01% students )
Class XII - 87% ( with merit certificate in economics, which is given to top 0.01% students )
Graduation - 69% ( In second year came first in a class of 70 )
Post Graduation - MA in economics ( Distance Learning. Did this course while working. )
GMAT - Scoring 680-700 in practice test. Targeting 720+

Work Ex - 23 months in Service Industry. Though was part of the subsidiary of one of the biggest banks, but since I was working in back office my profile was not good. Left job after 23 months as was not happy with my profile and currently working part time in my cousins business.

Extra Curricular - Not much. Took part in sports and debates in schools, but don't have any certificates. Have been involved with an NGO twice ( don't have certificate of this either).

Hey there,
Well it feels to me like for MBA programs maybe you are rushing things a bit. Your work experience is a wee bit on the low side, plus you don't have your GMAT score yet, so it is pretty hard for me to evaluate your profile without that. What are you doing at your cousin's business? And what sort of business is it?

If you were to get a 700+ then a Masters in Management would be more up your line. You can have a look at the rankings here: https://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolra ... ement-2012 to get an idea of where you might apply, but it is better to hold off deciding until you get your GMAT score, because your application will be soooo dependent upon that.

Thanks for the reply.

My cousin have a toys business, in which I mainly do data entry work ( recording receipts, keeping record of inventory, etc.). Yes I agree my age(23) and experience are on the lower side. But I was not happy with my profile on the job and pretty much don't like the work I am doing with my cousin. But since I do not have a degree from good college, I am unable to get good profile. That's why I am rushing to get a good degree.

Would it make more sense to do one year pre-experience courses like Msc in finance or strategy management from good college rather than MBA?

Provided I get a good score in GMAT(700+) what are my chances at MIM from good colleges like (HEC, ESADE,IE,ESCP etc.) considering the rest of my profile. Is it fine to do MIM( which is a pre-experience degree) after 23 months of work ex.

Since I have more than 6 months before the application process starts, any suggestion how can I improve my profile.

Well, if you get a very high GMAT and you have excellent essays you would have a shot at these programs, work experience notwithstanding. After all that is why MiMs exist - for people who don't yet have the perfect work experience. A very high GMAT is VERY helpful here (think 720+). Otherwise an MSc can also be a good option to improve your profile, and you have to see what you want to do afterwards. ( you can of course apply to both MiM and MSc programs if you are interested, but you should be thinking about what you want to do afterwards).
