John.

Your insight is helpful. Even though I'm Thai, I'm a bit concerned about my below average GMAT and undergrad GPA coming from a highly competitive profile (Asian Male in Finance). I just hope some of my tough target schools won't cut me off immediately when they look at the stats. Is this something that needs to be addressed in an optional essay?

I'll do my best to leverage the strengths of my application and show I can make a difference at the schools.

Thanks!

Weeeeeell, I don't know about "below average".. I mean you are what... 5 maybe 10 points below average to SOME of the schools? It's all right. You passed the 700 water-line, and from now on it's gonna be your essays and recs which gotta carry the rest of the weight. Yes, you are Asian and in finance, but things tend to go more by country than region (and you are neither Chinese nor Indian) PLUS your WE is in the lovely NYC... (and I'm assuming you can get the relevant and awesome recs).

I still think you have a shot, so go for it!
