Hi Jon,

I am from India. I am interested in applying for MBA in next 2-3 years. Currently I am in a family business. But after my MBA I would like work abroad for some time before coming back but I am a little concerned if my experience at my own firm will count as much as working for some multinational firm. Do you think it will be better if I first work at another firm for some time and then apply for an MBA or should I just be where I am.

Please advise

Good question. And the answer is: it depends. How big is your firm? What is your industry? What is the turnover? what is the potential for growth? The bigger, better and more successful your family business is, the better your experience will be considered.
