Hello,

I would like to get a idea about which schools to pick/target. Here's my profile

Nationality: New Zealand (with Indian roots)
Gender: Female
Age: 30
Postgrad: M.Eng from Germany, GPA: 2.3(German grading system) converts to an A on the american scale. More on the above average scale so not the best.
WE: Working for a fortune 50 company in Germany. I am a specialist in Wireless technology/Electronics.
GMAT: not yet scheduled but I am hoping to get a score of at least 700
I speak 4 languages: English, German being my main
Lived and worked in Singapore for 3 years
Living and working in Germany
Well traveled
Total WE: 6+ years
promoted every year
various other awards and recognition's at work
no patents or anything like that

Extracurricular: Played the Violin in High school, Volunteering work etc etc.

I am thinking about pursuing an MBA now because I am at a point in my career where I would like to tackle larger/strategic problems than the engineering type challenges.

The hardest part for me is that I am a mother and so time is very precious for me so looking for 1 year programs. Plus I feel that I am on the older side will this be a disadvantage for me ?
Should I pursue any short management courses before i apply to offset my 'nerdy' engineer profile ?

I was thinking about these schools:
Insead
Wharton
Kellogg
ISB ??? (although good only if you to work in India)

Not sure what else would suit me. When should I target these schools, then I can get my GMAT underway

Thanks for dropping by,
So having a look at your profile, I think that your main strengths are:
- Your international experience - this is fantastic. You have lots of experience in other countries, and speak three other languages. Great!
- Female candidate - This is helpful because of the numbers

Less good is your grades, which are about average.

It's very hard for me to judge your work experience, because you didn't write anything about it. But you know, even in the Tech industry there are people with more success, and people with less, and your relative success WILL influence your chances. So take that into consideration.

I also don't have either a GMAT or a TOEFL, and it will be very hard to evaluate your profile without these two pieces of information. (and get back to me with a bit more). If you can get back to me with this information as well as a bit more about your work, I can try and help you figure out which schools would fit you.

I don't think you are necessarily too old for US schools. In most schools (outside the top five, the average age at matriculation is about 26/27, so yes you are a bit older, but only a bit.

So basically for now, things are open for you.
